One reason I love singing Michael Giacchino’s music are the hidden gems he manages to work in here and there! I’m always looking for the moments where he’ll slip in his children’s names… and maybe the occasional pet too… ha!
If ever you hear the contemporary Star Trek theme with it’s iconic solo, that is my friend Elin Carlson, pictured in the maroon shirt… I looked at her as soon as my eyes took in what we were about to sing and grabbed a quick photo to be able to remember how epic it felt to get to share this musical moment with her!
Michael is always so gracious to come out after the session is over to give a big thank you to the singers, to which the singers always roar in applause. We know we are incredible fortunate to be able to do what we love for a living and for composers like him who make it possible.
Composers Jeff Danna and Mychael Danna (who also composed for Life of Pi and Little Miss Sunshine) did an incredible job of incorporating strong Latin vocals. I even found a moment where I got to sing a shout out to myself “Mo-Do.” We really got to use our “out-door voices” and I LOVED IT! The producers even had all us singers autograph several movie posters. Ha! That was fun for me🙂
I was so blessed to have been able to sing with my girls once again on the animated motion picture “Sing.”
This session was a very special one indeed. For the first time both me and my girls had a session on the same day at Capitol Records. We were all hired to sing vocals for Italian artist Laura Pausini. What an exceptional day. There’s nothing like Christmas in July!
When I get the chance to sing on a film, etherial “oohs” and ahs” are a standard. I greet these “oohs” and has” with pleasure because I know they will evoke emotions from the audience. I know the occasional “creepy vocal effect” will be effective. There was that vocal moment though… that musical moment that evoked uncontrollable nostalgic joy in me! it erupted when about half way through the session I heard the traditional Ghost Busters theme. About half the choir had to be tamed as our bodies and voices reflected something in us that screamed for our inner child to respond. What an absolute pleasure it was to contribute a little piece to these iconic films. So very grateful I get to do what I do for a living!
Thankful for another opportunity to do what I love. My pencil broke mid “instruction” so it was hard not to laugh as I scribbled with my tiny lead…ha!
It was such an honor to be a part of the upcoming Disney animated feature Zootopia. Not to mention having a front row seat while my other singer friends knock it out of the park. My buddy Fletcher has a killer solo and I just can’t wait to see it when it all put together!

Fletcher and and guys
It’s exhilarating having the opportunity to perform perform this weekend at Hollywood Bowl. Not only are we performing songs from Tim Burton’s Nighmare Before Christmas, we’ll be working with none other than Mr. Danny Elfman himself. What a weekend, can’t wait!
I was so pleased to be invited to sing “All The Things You Are” on The Black & White Sessions this week. This is a new channel on Youtube created by Tony Guerrero and Keri Larson which aims to highlight session singers through raw one take performances, uncut and unadulterated. Keri and Tony started releasing videos in March and there are already so many awesome singers who’ve done sessions. Thanks guys for including me in your project. I had a blast!
Just had the opportunity to yodel on this Disney short with Mickey and friends.
